Facelift Has Begun at Uniontown Bar

So I knew that the designs were approved and the retail contract had been signed, but was completely and happily surprised to discover that, starting today, construction has begun at Uniontown Bar & Grill at MLK and W Street!

the first floor storefront area has been majorly opened up!

just two doors away from Big Chair Coffee (the blue building)

the bar's corner entrance will be restored behind the column

Wow, this is big time. Exciting times over here in Historic Anacostia. Follow the updates here and on Uniontown's twitter feed: @UniontownBar.

Wow! A coffee shop and a bar in the same block in Anacostia. What am I going to do with myself?

I noticed bulldozers this morning across the street from Big K Liquor...at the corner of Chicago and MLK...I know the construction fence has been up for awhile, but do we know what that is going to be?

@urban architect: I'm pretty sure that a construction firm is just leasing that corner lot. Eventually there is a supposed to be a residential building, though, as part of the Four Points plans.

if you look just 2 doors to the right you've got the gallery at Vivid Solutions-- add that to your list of stops on the Big Chair block.
